FA Cup 1999.

Keith Curle with Cup and Wolf.             Flo Scores.

Match Report.

Well we had a go and it looked promising at half-time but the team decided to gift 2 goals to Arsenal and that was that.

1) Mike Stowell - Made a couple of great saves in front of the Jack Harris unfortunately I sit in the Stan Cullis. However, he did muck up a couple of kicks and dropped a couple of crosses.
3) Kevin Muscat - Had a muscat kind of game made a couple of good crosses and made a few good interception but he did make Dixon, Bergkamp and Overmars know he was in the game.
2) Mark Atkins - Well sorry but his days are numbered. He backed off and let Overmars score the first and Robinson had to help him when Overmars ran at him. I could use stronger language but I won't because Dean Richards was there as well. What has Lee Naylor done to upset Colin Lee. Get him back at Left back and put Muscat back to right back.
5) Keith Curle - Had a good game and upset Bergkamp which conluded in a bit of a slapping contest near the end.
6) Dean Richards - Had a good game but doesn't he always when he's on TV. Ended up as a striker near the end and actually made some headers that headed towards the goal.
4) Neil Emblen - Had a OK game better near the end when he came forward more.
8) Carl Robinson - Was alright in the first half but was still trying and faded a bit in the second half.
11) Simon Osborn - Had a cracking game, one of his best although he did make the odd stupid pass which immediately meant that Arsenal attacked.
7) Micheal Gilkes - total and utter rubbish. He made one good cross before half time and that was it. Knocked off the ball every time and shirked out of every 50-50 ball. His days are looking numbered too.
9) Havard Flo - Had a very good game. Won virtually every header and was holding the ball up well. He was tiring near the end . I think he needs a while to get upto full fitness after the German winter break. If the effort that bounced off the inside of the post had gone in he could have become a local hero.
10) Robbie Keane - He went off the boil near the end but played well in the first 45. However, Arsenal had already got him sussed and when he received the ball 3 players were on him in about 30 seconds.

Subs: Simpson, Murray, Connolly, Sedgeley, Gomez?
Simpson and Sedgeley cam on for Gilkes and Robinson but I think the decision was made too late and that Connoly should have come on instead of Simpson. This then happened 1 minute before time. Simpson had a free kick go wide 5 minutes from the end and Sedgeley was put in for the height but it was all too late.

Back marking gave them the first and a bad header and misfortune gave them the second but apart from that it was a good performance and at least we tried our best but they were just better !!
